 "Every child begins the world again." ~ Henry David Thoreau  Summer Babies!!!We are honored to have been a small part of watching new families born. - a very special little girl finally joined us this june. with daddy's chin and mommy's eyes, claire is the light of her extended family's world. kaitlyn and craig waited patiently for their doll, knowing that something as wonderful as their first child would be worth the wait. she was. dennis and i were lucky to both be there to welcome her.
- emily and ryan had a much easier time greeting little eloise (much prettier than the young lady at the plaza), than her big brother, only 11/2 years ago. even a little early, little eloise was a good size (a whole pound bigger than estimated! - we don't trust those late ultrasounds.)
- lesia and her family welcomed their little girl, melania, to join two big brothers on saint nicholas' day.
- fedelina and her family welcomed their third baby, a pink rosebud, still unnamed last week.
- stephanie and max and a tremendous entourage from italy and locally, welcomed ax joseph this week, home in time for the best thanksgiving a family could hope for!
- stephanie and joe welcomed their second son, colin just before thanksgiving. colin's big brother was joyfully waiting outside the delivery room to be among the first to hold his tiny brother.
- abby and scott have a house full of pink, for the rest of their lives. they recently added a third tiny girl to their beautiful ballet troupe. abbey was amazingly strong, left early to join the girls!
- after many years of waiting patiently, carolyn and michael were blessed with two beautiful little men to love and care for. sometimes it is worth the wait. ethan and andrew are so identical, they sleep-deprived parents have to color-code the boys to tell them apart. it's a welcome headache for the happy and tired, gorgeous family of four.
- jamie and ryan met their first little surprise, baby jack this month.
jack is the first grandchild on both sides, will be very much loved by his lucky family. - brianna and kevin welcomed a little brother for kailey, recently. the new little guy is daddy's namesake, also kevin, is strong like his dad, ready to fight for his women.
- zenobia and her scott, added their second baby, a little angel, elena, in november. big sister marin was thrilled to have a little sister for christmas. zenobia was a little scared until she heard her daughter's cry and then we all choked up to hear mommy cry, too. (it's can make it hard to operate when the surgeons are choking back tears.)
- biljana and vladko had a quiet halloween, then were surprised to learn their first baby, a gorgeous, healthy little girl, was ready to come a month before her due date. mommy and baby went home healthy and happy together with a daddy, who cannot but marvel at his beautiful women.
- nadine and kevin, both nurses, who knew what to expect, while expecting their first little one, found that labor is a time for the unexpected. their big bundle of joy, 9 pounds, was in charge the whole day. probably setting them up for a lifetime of being wrapped around her pretty little finger.
- caryn and her sweetheart welcomed their first child, a little hunk they named colton. colton is sure to break some hearts, based on the way the nursery nurses fought to hold and admire him.
- shanette and her family welcomed a lovely little girl right before halloween. mom had a little scare with her blood pressure at the end, but sailed through a healthy labor and delivery experience.
- katherine and john, the tallest of our recent couples, welcomed a gorgeous little brother for their lovely daughter, 5 year old, olivia. named collin, this strong boy has big shoes to fill. he may choose to help his hero, daddy, put out fires, or mommy take care of her patients, while his big sister nurtures and prepares him to excel in school, as is her current role.
- marcie and her family waited a long time to enjoy welcoming their first child, an amazingly alert angelic little boy. we know he was worth the wait!
- preethi (as pretty as her name implies), and her husband, sandeep were over-the-moon to welcome their first child, a gorgeous girl: "arjun": the name of a hero in Hindu texts, the son of the god Indra and the princess Kunti, means clear and bright.
- sabrina and dario welcomed dario, jr, a gorgeous masculine-replica of mommy, with big curious eyes, long eyelashes, a calm, sweet disposition, and thick dark hair, that is currently styled in a mohawk. he puts the other babies in the nursery to shame for their bald little heads.
- catherine welcomed her long-awaited, much deserved, healthy little man: jason lewis, after a long 24 hours in labor. surrounded by a joyous crowd of her closest family and friends, catherine showed amazing courage all day. although jason's arrival was a little early, he weighed in at 7.5 pounds. His beauty isunquestioned, with soft blond hair and peaches and cream complexion: he was deeply loved by all from the moment he took his first breath.
- janet and anthony were graced by a little angel friday. after parenting two active boys, they had grown accustomed to a certain amount of roughhousing in small children. all that seemed to change, when emma claire was peacefully placed on her mother's chest and quietly looked into her eyes.
- kathryn and michael, proud parents of two already, joyfully introduced a little linebacker, tyler to their growing family this week. kathryn also chose not to use pain medication, came into labor and deliver in advanced labor, and almost delivered without us. luckily she stayed focused and waited for me to arrive to help catch their big boy.
- laura and eric welcomed a second gorgeous baby girl into their family. laura remained calm and strong, using vocal techniques to gently work with her contractions. with no pain medication, and no fuss, laura showed us all how beautiful a natural birth could be.
- hayley and ben welcomed their little man, samuel after three long days of prodromal labor. hayley persevered, however, and delivered that big guy vaginally, with the support of a circle of women (dr. malley and several l &d nurses who came in to cheer on as she battled exhaustion.) we believe, based on his beginning that this little boy will always know to appreciate the good women in his life.
- elizabeth and josh welcomed a linebacker, giovanni to their loving family, their first son, the biggest boy in the nursery! josh is a carbon copy of daddy, except for his beautiful coloring that could only come from a mom who chose his renaissance name.
- it has been a summer for first-time babies, which means we have seen the development of making first-time parents.
- recently natasha, caroline and abdiel, kelly and nick, jennifer and daniel, marissa and roaul, all became families within a matter of hours (9 months plus a few hours.) happily, all our new families are adjusting to the rigors of sleeplessness and the demands of a 7-9 pound dictator, whom they cannot help but admire and adore.
- proving that every baby comes on their own schedule, megan and david welcomed their third child after a long day. with a history of very quick deliveries, megan dutifully reported to the hospital soon after onset of labor. unlike his 2 sisters, their son made his family wait all day. megan displayed tremendous strength throughout her natural childbirth.
- it was a family affair when ebru and her family welcomed their second son early this morning. grandma even cut his umbilical cord. the handsome little guy looks much like his dad minus the red curls.
- ann and jeff welcomed their first child, handsome little son jack, over this warm holiday weekend. jack's bid for independence suited his parents fine!
- when sol's blood pressure started to rise despite an uneventful pregnancy, we recognized that their son was making his intentions clear. sol and d.j. are now the proud parents of a bouncing baby boy they named david. (something to do with the world cup's hero: david vila?)
- early in the morning, a beautiful little dove cooed into her mother's neck as deborah and tim welcomed their little girl, nora. big brother dillon joined them later with much joy. a generous hearted 2 year-old, dillon presented his new baby sister with his own toy elmo. he is too young to understand the wonderful coincidences of nora's arrival: they share a birth weight: 6 pounds 3 ounces, birth time (but 12 hours apart), and bright, curious eyes. those, with her dimpled chin, light brown curls and gentle cooing have made her a standout in our brimming nursery.
- erika gave luiz the world's best father's day present when she delivered their beautiful daughter (almost 9#) to join big brother!
- joann and mark sweetly added a little girl to their family, making payton a proud big brother. as in "clan of the cave bear" payton's baby sister is named ayla, a bearer of good luck.
- anne and aidrian gave their little girl a baby sister, niamh in a gentle VBAC, that showed anne's true physical strength and determination, despite cynics outside her delivery room.
- janel and ed finally became first-time parents last week, when beautiful little paige joined our world. paige is petite like mom, with a smile as wide as daddy's. when handed her daughter, janel could not stop kissing her little cheek, and paige responded in kind. they were beautiful to behold.
- in a surprise early appearance, anjie and ali added a gorgeous tiny angel to their family. big brother shaheer is proud and ready to protect his pretty little sister.
- julissa and homer added a tiny little doll when baby annaleah was born, to round out their new family.
- betsy and eric had a long day as they finally delivered their second, in a burst of glory.
- danielle and brian added a third to their bevy of beautiful daughters today: abigail jane, 7 pounds 4 ounces of chubby cheeks and dimples. abigail joins proud and lovely big sisters: emily and samantha, who are preparing as we speak to share their dolls!
- diana and paul joyfully welcomed patrick, their first this month. diana was as calm as ever until she saw her husband tear up over their newly formed family. looking at them, it is hard to believe patrick wasn't always a part of their family.
- jodi's little honey came early with excitement and lots of attention. we wonder if she isn't destined for hollywood, someday? despite coming before she was due, jodi's little one is doing very well and will be home with her family soon.
- maria, manuel and big sister taylor gently brought little zoe into our world saturday morning. like her mom, zoe is beautiful and peaceful; a thoughtful baby. without pain medication, but filled with quiet determination and steeped in faith, maria welcomed her second daughter who joins taylor and big brother, quinn.
- christina is a proud big sister this week. she beamed so brightly, it apppeared that she was on a trip to disney. she let go of baby angela just long enough to ring the newborn baby bells at the hospital, to herald the birth of her perfect little sister. angela kate was born to proud parents, eileen and jerry.
- with all the courage she would never admit to, and the beauty of a loving soul, wendy and sweetheart, rich welcomed the world's smallest harley-davidson fan, max, to their wonderful world after a very long day. all involved agree that he was worth the wait.
- jean-marie and john proudly welcomed a tiny angel with chubby pink cheeks and dimples, cailin, to meet her big sister ava, yesterday. jean-marie is back to a size 2 after delivery. (we are all jealous of her good genes and dancer's discipline.)
- amanda and justin welcomed a gorgeous little man: the perfect mother's day gift, and the first baby born on mother's day, 2010 at nwh. proud grandma received a special mother's day gift, too, as she joined us for the delivery, and was able to help coach ty into his new family.
- brook and eric found themselves awake early tuesday as labor gently began. later that morning, they welcomed sophia's beautiful baby sister, eliza, in a peaceful, gorgeous, perfect natural delivery. brook was so beautiful and calm in labor (with absolutely no pain medication!!!) she could inspire anyone considering another child to try again!
- hilda's family welcomed baby andrew in a graceful VBAC without pain medication, in a beautiful show of womanpower.
- sidalia and her husband woke up early to welcome their first little one early tuesday morning.
- andrea and nathan welcomed their gorgeous son, a wise old soul: finn. in an amazing coincidence: finn shares his birthday with a brand-new cousin and a brand-new best friend: daughter of mommy's life-long best friend.
- amanda and her husband now share their wedding anniversary with their twins: ava and dean. the pair surprised us by arriving a few weeks early, but both are perfect. we are happy to say that all four of the newly minted family are thriving.
- kristen and harold took a break from crime-fighting to deliver a perfect little girl. as promised she came with a little drama as strong women sometimes will.
- mina triumphed over a marathon labor, ultimately delivering a long-awaited daughter and sister in a natural delivery after cesarean section (VBAC); in an impressive show of strength.
- brittany & brian welcomed beautiful little emma, much to brother aidan's delight.
- stephanie and her gilles joyfully welcomed their second boy.
- jennifer and tim welcomed their first daughter, olivia caroline, joining proud big brothers.
- carmen and luis welcomed luis, jr, a strapping 9 pound little man, a long-awaited addition to their family.
- ane and skip happily gave kiernan a baby sister, kelsey.
- esther and her husband, proudly and elegantly delivered baby #14,
